I have NEVER celebrated Valentines Day in my life! I guess it has never made sense to set a apart ONLY one day to celebrate L.O.V.E?? Then again, some may argue so is Christmas and Easter !!
I don't know the story of Saint Valentine or what noble act he did to get a day in his honor??? --- *googling*

Legend has it ::

... St. Valentine was a priest near Rome in about the year 270 A.D, a time when the church was enduring great persecution. His ministry was to help the Christians to escape this persecution, and to provide them the sacraments, such as marriage, which was outlawed by the Roman Empire at that time.
