TGIF: APPRECIATING THE WILD

“They say that somewhere in Africa the elephants have a secret grave where they go to lie down, unburden their wrinkled gray bodies, and soar away, light spirits at the end.” ― Robert McCammonBoy's
A few weekends back we had our annual team building at the Voi Wildlife Lodge.
It boarders the expansive Tsavo East National Park.
One of the animal's watering spots was by the hotel. We got to see the animals so close.
You become one with nature.
I love the wild. I am so glad i was born in Africa!!

I am intrigued by elephants. They are large but they are so emotional.
You better treat an elephant right because they have EXCLLENT memory and they hold grudges for years!
They will remember you years later by your scent/smell.
If you were good to them they hug you with their trunk, raise you in the air and carry you around on their tusks. It's their way of saying . "My friend! how i missed you!!"

If you were cruel to an elephant, WOE unto you. It will trumple the life out of you.

Another thing of interest, is that Elephants bury their dead!! Yes! they hold funerals for their dearly departed.
They sing..more like blow out sounds using their trunks. They weep and wail. They dig up a grave, roll the dead in it, and throw soil over the grave.

How cool!!

Happy Weekend Folks.

THE BOOK Vs. THE MOVIE

“Books and movies are like apples and oranges. They both are fruit, but taste completely different.”― Stephen King

TGIF!
It has most definitely been a while.
I get asked this question alot.

The Movie or The Book? What should i go for?

The debate rages on . Here's a list of popular Books Made Into Movies

I classify Movie-Books into 4 categories;

Category ONE.
Great movies that kicked the book's @$$!!
You loved the movie so much you threw out the book.
Said a silent prayer to the writer and hope they got a really great deal from the movie.

Category TWO.
Great books that were MASSACARED by the movie.
You wonder why the so-called production team had to cut out all the amazing parts from the book. almost made you curl up in tears. *was it about money? was the budget not enough?*
As a consolation you re-read the book just to get bitter taste of the movie from your mouth! BLEH!
Some books and movies are like Apples and Apple Cider Vinegar if you ask me. So tragic!

Category THREE.
Then, there are those movies that did justice to the book. You could almost think the writer was the producer. THEY NAILED IT.
Those are the ones worthy of a place on both the coveted book and the movie shelf.
You do your happy dance and take down the names of the entire production team, just incase you ever write a book that needs to be made into a movie someday.

Category FOUR.
Finally, there are those movies that completely lost the plot of the book. Makes you wonder if THEY EVER READ THE BOOK AT ALL?!
What happened?! What happened?!

It's rainy season here in Nairobi. Yesterday the rain did one on me. I didn't get offended though because i looove rain. It was interesting getting soaked in the rain. hahaha.

HAPPY WEEKEND YA'LL :0)

TGIF: A TRIBUTE

“The path i walk lights up in flames”  ― Roberta Karim
Source: Pinterest
 A TRIBUTE...

I could light one million candles,
I could say one million prayers,
One million red roses,
Wouldn't be enough..

Wouldn't match up to the legacy of love you have left behind.
You could be as bold a lion,
Or as meek as a lamb,
Yet you were balanced so perfectly.
God made you a lover,
And Love you gave,
To your family, friends and everyone who crossed your path..

Your candle will continually burn in the eyes of your children..
The path you walked is lit up in flames,
Rest In Perfect Peace Nana Cherop..

BY FAITH NOT BY SIGHT

2 Corinthians 5:7 New King James Version (NKJV)
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Blindfold surprise by Phil JonesPhotography

There has been something about the month of November.
One constant lesson has been re-playing OVER & OVER & OVER.

Just because you do not see it does not mean IT HAS NOT HAPPENED !!
I have come to learn there is something i now call BLINDFOLD SURPRISES.
Well, this in my new understanding is when things happen even when you cannot see it.
Some things do not necessarily manifest 100% on the spot. Its a process that is supposed to strengthen our faith and not dampen it contrary to popular belief.

A few years ago, i read an incredible story of a visually impaired man who could tell color by touch.
Yes! Just by touching anything of color he knew if it was blue or yellow or white.
I have seen things of color all my life and even with the lights off i cannot tell what color a thing is.

I have experienced a lot of blind surprises lately. Honestly, walking in faith takes a whole lotta FAITH & TRUST. Being a very logical person does interfere with Faith and Trust alot. *work in progress*
Believing when you cannot see stretches my faith muscles so hard i can see six pack forming. lolThe Bible requires of us to walk by faith because what we see is so limiting. God can do above and beyond what we can ask for or imagine. Faith begins where when we cannot see or touch or ask for or think of. It begins wher the natural meets the supernatural.
When Christ on the cross declared it was finished in the natural he was hanging on a cross lifeless. some were depressed because they thought he is gone.. it's over! Lets mourn him. The natural was so limiting.
The phrase it is finished was above and beyond what we could imagine. He had accomplished God's purpose. He had defeated the devil, death, poverty, sickness and all sorts of  earthly viles.

I do not know how far your faith and trust levels have been stretched?? But just because you cannot see does not mean it has not happened. Keep the faith. Keep trusting.

CHANGES.

“Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody.”
Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Just Another MMM… Day!

Our offices are currently under renovation. It resembles nothing less than a construction site!
I wake up not knowing what to expect??
It's all about change!
Talks of a merger are also headlining across the office corridors.
We are merging with three other organizations similar to us.
It's all about change, i tell you!
I am sure of ONLY one thing this year ... i am sure of CHANGE!
Work on the other hand has NEVER been busier!
I can hardly come up for air! As soon as am finished with one thing, something else is waiting to get done!
Thank God It's Friday!

With all the make-overs happening around me, i feel the need for personal change too.
Am on project #GetNewGlasses. Am excited about my next pair!! :))
Cat's Eye Glasses.. Whoop! Whoop!

ION, i have lost a whooping 12Kgs since November of last year. A wardrobe change beckons. yaaaas!
I saw a picture of myself the other day and i thought, WOOOW! you look SMALL-ER! i could barely recognize my much slimmer face!!
Thank You LORD for the weight loss miracle. Yes! i did not stutter, i said weight loss MIRACLE.
All i did was pray and ask God for a weight loss MIRACLE. And the results show.
He is ABLE to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we could ask or think! Jehovah is his name.

Happy Weekend folks :))
